January 26th 2006 AIDEN J.DANIELS
Tonight's entertainer Aiden, originally from Ireland but now based in Leeds , began his performing career with his brother Tim in the Comedy Duo Me 'n' Our Kid . When Tim left to go into Country music, Aiden stayed with the comic career, but following the gift of a guitar from his wife, he learned to play this instrument and chanced his arm at singing Country too, and this has dominated his act ever since 2001. Aiden quickly developed a good rapport with his audience telling several jokes and making witty comments interspersed with loads of songs he so ably delivered. He has a powerful voice, crystal clear diction which wins over the listeners straightaway. Starting with George Strait 's Write This Down his programme consisted almost entirely of popular songs from the New Country genre. He gave us a fine mix of Ballads and Up-tempo numbers to keep both Line and Partner dancers happy all evening, and his super voice pleased those who just came to listen also. Songs included Toby Keith's Nights I Can't Remember, Friends I Can't Forget, Who's That Man, Should Have Been A Cowboy, Alan Jackson's, Monday Morning Church, The Blues Man, Designated Drinker, Brad Paisley's, Wrapped Around, Dwight Yoakam's, Guitars, Cadillacs, Please, Please, Baby, but my favourite of the night was Darryl Worley's, Have You Forgotten. Aiden also included, Big Hearted Guy, which he co-wrote with his friend Rob Russell Davies. However he invited his 20 year old Daughter Siobhan to the stage during his first and last acts, she, like her Dad, has a powerful voice and gave us, Big Deal, I feel Lucky, Closer, Mi Vida Loca and a song new to me Kathy Coffey's, Dance With My Father. She joined her Father at the end to sing the Alison Krauss / Brad Paisley hit, Whiskey Lullaby, to bring an evening of super entertainment to a splendid close. No doubt (T) HE (Y) will be back Cyril Insley |
