December 28th 2006 Alan Williams
![]() To see us out of this year, we had the super singer/ guitarist Alan. Despite playing to a smaller crowd than those of late, he nonetheless put on a superb show, ensuring both dancers and listeners were more than pleased.
Linedancers filled the floor to, Goodhearted Woman, I Need Someone To Hold Me When I Cry, Evangelina, Speak To The Sky, The Writing On The Wall, California Blue and Dance The Night Away.
Smoochers were out in force for, Look At Us, Your Cheatin' Heart, When you Say Nothing At All, and Don't Close Your Eyes.
A couple of songs I had not heard in a long while were, Ty Herndon's, Loved Too Much, and Ronnie Milsap's, Why Don't We Spend the Night.
To conclude the smashing show, Alan invited the entire audience onto the floor for the traditional end of year Anthem, Auld Lang Syne.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY

February 9th 2006 Alan Williams
It's been quite a while since we last saw Alan here, 2004 in fact, so everyone was really looking forward to tonight's performance. Alan himself was in a little trepidation as he was playing, for the first time in public, a brand new guitar. But he had nothing to fear as his show was just as superb as ever - an evening full of excellent vocals and super guitar playing. He started his career in a school band playing Rock and Popular music but has worked solo for 41 years, playing Country Music for the last 25 years. Originally from Knighton, Mid Wales, he has resided in Shrewsbury for the last 30 years. Tonight's program contained old songs, new songs, fast and slow songs, all of which kept dancers and listeners enthralled all night long. The most popular dance numbers included ' Tempted ' The Cowboy Rides Away, Waltz Across Texas, Life Turned Her That Way, Closer, Queen Of Memphis and I Just Want To Dance With You! Alan also gave us several songs not frequently heard here and these included Hal Ketchum's ' Old Soldiers' ' The Perfect Picture' ( to fit my frame of mind) a hit for Gary Wolf in 1982, 'In My Arms Tonight' recorded by the late Keith Palmer in 1991, and ' I Won't Go Hunting With You Jake' and ' Who Were You Thinking Of ' popularised by Jim Glaser and a hit in 1980 for the Doolittle Band. Alan also treated us to popular songs ' Sing me Back Home' ' Fields Of Athenrye' ' Your Cheatin' Heart ' Evangelina and ' Wabash Cannonball' which included great yodeling. After super shows like this, let's hope it won't be too long before we see Alan again. Cyril Insley |
