March 17th 2005 Bill Kenny

Tonight's artiste was making his first appearance at our club. Now living in Coventry for quite a few years, Belfast -born Bill has been in the music business for the last fifteen years.
During this time he has always played in pop music groups / bands etc.but he has always had a strong affection for Country music, so he decided to give a try to performing this genre on his own and tonight was his first opportunity to do just this.
His favourite singers include Waylon Jennings, Rodney Crowall and Don Williams; so it was understandable that a lot of their songs would feature in his act.
As well as popular ditties, Bill also included Waylon's ' Quit Your Low Down Ways', ' I've Got a Lot Going For Me', and ' Rose in Paradise'; Rodney's ' Many a Long and Lonesome Highway' and ' I Need Someone to Hold Me When I Cry'; and Don's ' Loving You So Long', ' I'm Gettin Good at Missing You' and ' Lord I Hope This Day Is Good'.
As it was St.Patrick's Day, during his second spot Bill treated us to several popular Irish songs which had the audience singing along in fine style.
His final session was a good mix of Country standards and the odd newer song including The Tractors' ' Baby Likes To Rock It' and Travis Tritt's ' Lord Have Mercy on The Working Man'
After a nervous start, Bill redeemed himself as his confidence grew.
