June 29th 2006   CAROLANNE ' B '

 Carolanne B
It was another most enjoyable concert tonight from Yorkshire's own country sweetheart, Carolanne.

The format tonight for the three acts was deliberately contrived to suit dancers, listeners and singers alike.

Act one consisted  mainly of relatively new songs with the odd Golden Oldie included.

Act two was somewhat similar but the ultimate session concentrated almost entirely on good old Country standards.

Starting with a new Sara Evans' recording, Walk Out Backwards, incidentally a hit for Bill Anderson in 1960, she continued with, Blake Shelton's, Some Beach, Randy Travis', Three Wooden Crosses, Tim McGraw's, Back When,  Heather Myles', Nashville Not Hollywood, Gary Allan's, Nothing On But The Radio, and Buddy Jewell's, Sweet Southern Comfort, amongst others.

Carolanne's second session provided several Mary Chapin Carpenter numbers and others by Pam Tillis, Emmy Lou Harris, John Fogerty,Lacy J. Dalton etc.

Her final act brought us classics such as  Love Bug, Mississippi, Tennessee Walz, Paper Roses, Tiger By The Tail, Sea Of Heartbreak and others.

It was the concensus veiw that this lovely lady had given us yet another evening's wonderful entertainment, enjoyed by dancers, listeners and singers alike.

   JULY 14th 2005 CAROLANNE 'B'

Tonight we were pleased to welcome back that happy, smiling lady from South Yorkshire , Carolanne 'B'. Unfortunately our audience was somewhat smaller than usual but all who attended agreed that the night's entertainment had been superb.Carolanne gave us a lovely mix of old and new Country which kept dancers, singers and listeners happy all evening. She makes no secret of the fact that she admires George Strait, Tanya Tucker and Heather Myles; so it was no surprise to hear numerous numbers from their individual catalogues:-  ' Lovebug' ' Texas When I Die' and ' Playin' Every Honky Tonk In Town'. More recent songs included Blake Shelton's Bestseller ' Some Beach', Clay Walker's ' Live, Laugh, Love' and Gretchen Wilson's ' Redneck Woman'.Most popular renditions however seemed to be the Golden Oldies / ' Rose Garden', ' Mississippi', ' Tennessee Walz' ' Sweet Sweet Smile'  ' Crazy'  and  'Fields of Athenrye'. Her performance got the rapturous applause it deserved, and i am sure we shall see her again next year. Cyril Insley

November 18th 2004 Carolanne 'B'

carolanne B

What a wonderful evening's entertainment we enjoyed from the lovely, lively lady from Rotherham , South Yorkshire , Carolann 'B' No wonder she is known as the County's, First lady of Country.Carolann has always had a keen interest in music since she was a child. Not only does she sing but plays guitar, mandolin, banjo and violin.   Her music career took off in a cabaret environment in a local restaurant, followed by invitations to perform at local British Legion functions. She was in a duo for two and a half years, a band for a short while, but has been a solo artiste mostly for the last 10 years. Brought up on the music of Marty Robbins and Slim Whitman she has always enjoyed Country; so it was inevitable that she would find herself performing this kind of song. Her programme for tonight catered for all tastes, Line  and Partner Dancers, Rock and Rollers, Listeners and those who love to join in and sing. She sang old songs, new songs and Classics to sustain our delight. Modern songs included Clay Walker's 'Gonna Live, Love, Laugh' Kimber Clayton's ' Jose Cuervo,' Scooter Lee's ' Ribbon of  Highway' Larry Cordle's ' Murder on Music Row' and Collin Raye's ' If I Were You'. Classics included Tammy Wynnette's 'Stand By Your Man', Loretta Lynn's 'Coal Miners Daughter', and Billie Jo Spears ' What I've Got In Mind'.I was delighted to know she had re-visited Tanya Tucker's and George Strait's catalogues; so we were treated to ' San Antonio Stroll',  ' Texas when I Die,' ' If Your Heart Ain't busy Tonight,'  'Delta Dawn' and 'Lovebug'  and  'I  Just Wanna Dance With You'. One song particularly close to Carrolann, ' Mississippi ', a hit for Pussycat here and for Country singer Barbara Fairchild in the States, was especially well received. All night she had an excellent rapport with her audience, inviting one of our members, Geoff, to sing ' Fields Of Athenry' and on another occasion showing the dancers the relevant steps to a dance.Having interviewed her at length, i found her personality as charming off the stage as she was on it. She loves touring America and has a burning desire to see George Strait perform live in concert. Unfortunately she is troubled with arthritis at present.. However, this in no way inhibited her and prevented her from giving a splendid show. I for one will always look forward to her appearing at our club. Cyril Insley
