September 7th 2006 Caroline McHugh Duo
Caroline and Pat were making their third appearance this year and their popularity continues to augment with each show. Their great voices and super musicianship makes each show a pleasure and a joy for dancers and listeners alike.
Lots of old and more recent songs prevailed throughout the evening. Line dancers filled the floor to, All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down, Love Bug, Tonight We Just Might Fall In Love Again, There Goes My Heart, Mercury Blues, Just To See You Smile, Past The Point Of Rescue and Here Comes My Baby.
Partner dancers responded ' en mass' to, I Fall To Pieces, Crazy, Danny Boy, Fields Of Athenry and Help Me make It Through The Night, all of which brought the best out of our singers in the audience.
Another superb show was brought to an end with a full dance floor and rapturous applause for Paul Ankers, It Doesn't Matter Any More, which was a huge hit for the late Buddy Holly, of course.

February16th 2006 Caroline McHugh Duo
Another act new to our club took the stage tonight, and what a smashing show they gave us, earning themselves a couple of encores. Both Caroline and husband Pat hail from Birmingham of Irish parents, and formed their duo 18 months ago. Before this each had their own music background; Caroline with her band ' The Country Blues' did the Irish music circuit for ten years, and Pat played in various bands, including ' The Young Ones' ' Bromford County ' and ' Salt Creek' Caroline plays rhythm guitar and takes the lion's share of the vocals. Pat plays lead guitar, harmonizes and takes occasional lead vocal. Incidentally he is also expert on keyboards, bass guitar and drums. Their show was a nice mix of new and old Country, and a couple of Irish songs for good measure, all of which brought a fine responce from the audience, as Caroline has a beautiful voice and pat is an excellent guitarist. They also kept the dancers busy throughout the evening. Songs we had not heard in a long while included Mary Chapin Carpenter's, 'He Thinks He'll Keep Her' 'Passionate Kisses' and 'The Bug'. Martina McBride's ` The Time Has Come' Faith Hill's `A Piece Of My Heart' (a hit for Sandy Croft in 1985) and `Let's Go To Vegas' Vince Gill's ` South Side Of Dixie' and Collin Raye's `In This Life.' Country Standards included `Sing Me Back Home' `Your Cheatin' Heart,' `Silver Threads and Golden Needles' `Stand By Your Man' and others. The best reception, however was afforded to Caroline's superb rendition of Danny Boy which had the entire audience joining in the chorus and literally making the rafters ring. Not only are Caroline and Pat great performers, they are two lovely people who will be `Welcome' here anytime. Cyril Insley
