April 16th 2009.. COUNTY LINE BAND
Tonight was one of those rare occasions when a four piece band came to our club at Shobnall to entertain us and what a splendid concert they gave. Consisting of John on Rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Ian on lead guitar / backing vocals, Gary on drums and Keith on bass / backing vocals, 'COUNTY LINE' were a tight unit giving us fine singing and excellent instrumentation throughout.
Following the demise of 'Bromford County', the first three aforementioned formed, 'Bulletproof' and with Steve's inclusion adopted the above name. Ian has also worked with Steve Raymond, Alan Westwood and No Regrets, but because of stage limitations was unable to display his prowess on mandolin and steel guitar this evening. They gave us a lovely mix of old and new country songs, some not heard here before, all well received by our members, both the listening and dancing fraternity. These included Travis Tritt's, Country Club, Alabama's, Jukebox In My Mind, Roy Orbison's, Blue Bayou, Tracy Byrd's, Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo, Hal Ketchum's, I'm Still In Love, Toby Keith's, I Should've Been A Cowboy, Willie Nelson's, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, Vince Gills, Look At Us, Garth Brooks, If Tomorrow Never Comes, Chuck Berry's, Johnny B Goode and to conclude a super show Keith Whitley's, Don't Close Your Eyes. Fortunately 'COUNTY LINE' are scheduled to perform here again later in the year and with shows like this they will always be welcome at our club. Cyril Insley
