January 11th 2007 GARY HAYNESOne thing that is certain about any of Gary's concerts is the fact he will pack a show with lots of great songs - tonight he delivered forty full length numbers.
As usual he was immaculately dressed but tonight he accompanied his vocals with an electric rather than acoustic guitar and thereby gave us two super instrumentals, Apache, and Ghost Riders In The Sky.
Starting with, The Race Is On, he immediately won over the audience, and it was not long before the dancers filled the floor and did so all night. Those in Line responded well to, Goodhearted Woman, Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do, Dixie On My Mind, Wabash Cannonball, Mercury Blues and more. Those with partners especially enjoyed, Before The Next Teardrop Falls, I Can't Help It, Wild Side Of Love, and Today I Started Loving You Again. Even Rock 'n' Rollers joined the proceedings to, Sea Of Heartbreak, Fighting Side Of Me, Big River, and Summertime Blues.
Gary also included several of his own compositions including, Standing In The Pouring Rain, and Catch Me If I Fall, all of which brought an appreciative responce from our members.
He has always been popular here since his first performance; so I am certain we will be seeing more of Gary in the future.

October 13 th 2005 GARY HAYNES
Another good evening's entertainment was forthcoming tonight as we have come to expect from this lively, bright and well presented artiste. I especially welcome Gary as i know, like me, he is an avid devotee of John Denver's music. So it was, and inevitable, that his programme would be loaded with the latter's songs and, i might add, several by special request. ' Back Home Again' ' Leaving On A Jet Plane', ' Some Days Are Diamonds' ( a Dick Feller ditty), ' Thank God I'm A Country Boy' ' Annies song', ' Take Me Home Country Roads' and ' Granma's Feather Bed', all out of the John Denver catalogue, brought an excellent response from all factions of the audience / dancers, singers and listeners alike. As is his wont, Gary also treated us to three of his own compositions all of which were very well received. The dance floor was full most of the evening to the likes of ' Sea Of Heartbreak', ' Branded Man', ' Amarillo By Morning' ' Take These Chains From My Heart', ' Love Bug', ' Calling Baton Rouge', ' The Fireman' and many more. Gary 's show is non- stop and tonight included thirty - nine full length songs, and such great entertainment will always be more than welcome here. Cyril Insley
February 3rd 2005 Last time Gary Haynes appeared at our club he went down a storm; so we were all keen for him to repeat his success tonight, and as expected he gave us another evening of great Country Music. This Sutton - in - Ashfield songster, impeccably dressed as usual, along with his accoustic guitar, did three memorable sessions of the whole stratum of country music. Songs of 'New Country' singers came from the catalogue of Garth Brookes - ' Not Counting You', ' Honky - Tonk Bar Association' and ' Ain't Goin Down Till The Sun Comes Up' and Tim Mcgraw's ' Just To See You Smile' and ' I Like It I Love It'. Older popular numbers included Hank's ' Jambalaya', ' I Can't Help It ' and ' Hey Good Lookin' , Bob Wills' and Wanda Jackson's ' Right or Wrong,' Carl Perkins' ' Blue Suede Shoes', Elvis' ' Don't Be Cruel', Ray Price's ' Heartaches By The number', and loads of others. Gary also sang two of his own compositions ' Coming Home To You' and ' Sweet As Wine' both of which the dancers obviously enjoyed as they filled the dance floor. As a keen fan of John Denver i was especially pleased to hear ' Back Home Again', ' Granma's Feather Bed' and ' Take Me Home Country Roads,' Other favourites included songs of Merle Haggard, George Jones, Don Gibson, Raymond Froggatt and of course Alan Jackson and George Strait . Gary 's performance is such a pleasure to watch as he takes no time between songs and always reflects his own enjoyment of what he sings. Long may he continue to come and entertain us at Northern Renegades.

Having seen Gary Haynes on two previous occasions I knew that our club was going to have another night of good Country music. Gary is from Sutton in Ashfield, Notts. and has been concentrating on Country music and Rock 'n' Roll for the last three years. Prior to this he was Bass player in two heavy metal bands, ‘Victim' and 'Hell Raiser' for eight years, always influenced however by his Dad's love of Country. He presents himself well having three different outfits during the evening. His programme consists predominantly of traditional standards from the catalogues of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Strait and Alan Jackson etc. but he can always find time for occasional Garth Brookes, Hal Ketchum and Joe Diffie etc. number. He also included a self composition 'Coming Home to You' His favourite singer / songwriter is John Denver so it was inevitable that he gave us ' Leaving on a Jet Plane,' Back Home Again' Grandma's Feather Bed' and 'Annie's Song' etc. Throughout the evening Gary kept all factions of the audience entertained. His strong and pleasant vocals kept the dancer's the listener's and those who like to sing along, happy. He provided a good balance of Ballads and up-tempo numbers and I'm certain he will be asked to perform again at our club. Cyril Insley. Top
