GET RHYTHM        June 30th 2011

Making their first appearance at our club, this duo gave a very good account of their talents both vocally and instrumentally.

Martin started playing piano at age 3 years and was classically trained. On leaving school he concentrated on teaching himself advanced techniques and has adopted as his main instrument the keyboard with a Hammond B3 organ.

His father has been involved in Country music for many years and included Martin in his band with a stage appearance at age 9.

Angela has been playing various musical instruments since she was 8 years old and by the time she was 10, she played the guitar and harmonica.

Making her first stage appearance in 2007 she now includes 6 and 12 string guitar, Mandolin and Harmonica in the act.

They both share lead vocals and started this evening's show with the ever popular, Folsom Prison Blues, followed by California Blue,If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body, Bad Moon Rising, Little Ole Wine Drinker, I Recall A Gypsy Woman and the Irish classic street song, I'll Tell My Ma.

They had a change of costume for each of the three acts and throughout the concert gave us songs from the classic country genre . Other examples included, Daddy Frank, Blue Side Of Lonesome, Your Cheatin' Heart and Good Hearted Woman. Special mention must be made of both Angela's and Martin's cover of the instrumental,Orange Blossom Special. As each received great applause for their  different interpretations, one on harmonica, the other on keyboard.

To conclude the concert,as is their wont, Martin and Angela delivered a number I cannot recall hearing before at Shobnall, Matchbox's, Rockabilly Rebel. This effected three encores, On The Road Again, Ghost Riders In The Sky and Fields Of Athenry, all of which received due appreciation from our members.
All night, dancers were kept busy, Listeners had lots to join in, all of which made for an evening of splendid entertainment.
