A non - stop show of great country music was the order of tonight's performance from Harvey, full of excellent guitar work and fine vocals for both old and new songs.

Dancers filled the floor from the very first song and were kept busy via favourites including Gene Watson's, Oh Carmen, George Straits, The Cowboy Rides Away, Froggy's, Somewhere Under The Sun, Alan Jackson's, Laid Back In Low Key, Toby Keith's, White Rose, Ricky Scaggs, Heartbroke, and Garth Brooks', Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old.

A lovely mix of old and new was prevalent throughout and the evening continued with The Kendalls', Thank God For The Radio, Bobby Darin's, 18 Yellow Roses, a hit for Marty Robbins, The Mavericks', I Should Have Been True, Daniel O'Donnell's, Footsteps, Joe Nicholls', Brokenheartsville, Sweet Little Lisa, which was covered by both Albert Lee and Dave Edmunds, and to conclude this wonderful entertainment Harvey gave us a couple of encores with The Eagles, Take It Easy, and the evergreen, Working Man, from the pen of Rita Macneil.

On his return to the Northern Renegades tonight, Harvey gave us a great show once again, keeping dancers and listeners content throughout.

His show had quite a few different songs from his previous ones and included a couple of Ricky Skaggs' numbers, Honey (Open That Door) and Heartbroke, The Eagles', Take It Easy, Jimmy Buffett's, Margaritaville, Merle Haggard's, Today I Started Loving You Again and Daddy Frank and K.C.Douglas', Mercury Boogie, a hit for Alan Jackson in 1993 as Mercury Blues.

More recent popular hits featured J.J.Cale's / Eric Clapton's, Ride The River, Brooks and Dunn's, You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone, Jerry Kilgore's, I Just Want My Baby Back, Steve Earle's, Galway Girl and Tracy Byrd's, Keeper Of The Stars, and each presented with good vocals and superb instrumentation and received the appreciative applause from our members they deserved.

Such shows as this will always sustain Harvey's popularity here.

February 14th 2008.. HARVEY STEVENS.

As expected we had another great show from Harvey, a fine mix of old and new, ideal for dancing or listening to, all songs presented via super vocals and guitar playing.

Amongst the new country numbers were Keith Urban's, The River, The Mavericks', All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down and I Should Have Been True, The Garth Brooks cover of Bob Dylan's, To Make You Feel My Love, Travis Tritt's, Country Club and Lonestar's, Mr Mom.

Older songs included Carl Butler's, Crying My Heart Out Over You, a No 1 for Flatts and Scruggs in 1962 and Ricky Scaggs twenty years later. Freddy Fender's, Before The Next Teardrop Falls, a chart topper in 1975, Terry Stafford's self written hit from 1974, Amarillo In The Morning, which also charted for George Strait in 1983 and the instrumental No 1 hit from 1965 for Buck Owens, Buckaroo.

Harvey also gave us a singalong medley of classics including, Your Cheatin' Heart,From A Jack To A King, King Of The Road, Cool Water, etc.etc. which brought a great  great vocal responce from our members.

Charlie Landsborough's, Throw Me Away, also featured, but my favourite of the night was his excellent version of Guy Clark's, Rita Ballou, which was more akin to Jack Ingram's interpretation of the song than it's composer's.

With shows like this, Harvey will always be welcome at our club.

Harvey Stevens

It was a welcome return tonight for Harvey following the success of his last show in August 2006. As before he gave us a great show, well appreciated by listeners and dancers alike.

This evening he started with, Birmingham Turnaround, from Keith Whitley's catalogue and followed it with several popular old and newer songs, including, Hoyt Axton's, Evangelina, Clint Black's,  Better Man, George Straits, The Cowboy Rides Away, Freddie Fenders, Before The Next Teardrop Falls, John Fogerty's, Southern Streamline and a song I had not heard before, Another Perfect Day, which was a hit in 1997 for Blake ( Weldon) and Brian (Gowen).

The programme continued in similar fashion with John Anderson's, Seminole Wind, Brother Jukebox, a minor hit for Don Everly in 1977 but a No 1 smash for Mark Chestnutt in 1990, Ricky Scaggs, Highway 40 Blues, Blake Shelton's, Some Beach, Brad Paisley's, A Man Around Here and Don Williams', You're My Best Friend, amongst many others.

Harvey's vocals are so easy on the ear and his guitar playing is super; so it is understandable why he goes down so well here at the Northern Renegades.

August 3rd 2006   HARVEY STEVENS

Another artiste new to our club was tonight's entertainer. Singer / Guitarist  Harvey, originally from Sherwood but now residing Blidworth,  Notts.
Studied Classical guitar as a child and in later life featured in several bands including, Big Bad Bo, Peanuts, Out of Hand and California Blue.

Since June this year he decided to do solo work and performs Country and / or,  Middle of the road, music. He lists among his favourite performers Vince Gill, Albert Lee, Travis Trit, and his all time idols The Beatles.

His show is a lovely, lively mix of old and new country and his programme was ideal  for both dancing and listening. Harvey has a most pleasant voice and the sounds he delivers from his Telecaster guitar have to be heard to be believed.

Uptempo numbers included Eddie Rabbitt's, Drivin' My Life Away, Merle's Mama Tried, Travis Tritt's, Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde, Hal Ketchum's, Tonight We May Just Fall In Love Again, and Past The Point Of Rescue, Rick Springfield's, Speak To the Sky, and Hoyt Axton's, Della And The Dealer amongst lots.

The slower songs, just as popular, were, Some Days Are Diamonds, One Night At A Time, Livin' On Love, Seven Spanish Angels, Neon Moon and several others, finishing with This Night Won't  Last Forever, a hit for Moe Bandy  in 1989 and a bigger hit for Sawyer Brown in 1997.

This may have been Harvey's first solo performance  here but judging by the audience's great appreciation, it will not be his last.
