October 1 st 2005 INCLINE
Tonight saw the first of our 'Saturday Night Specials' in a long while and we are always pleased to have Toni and Martyn on our stage as they are one of the most popular duos on the Country music circuit.
Their programme is always a lovely mixture of old and the more recent songs with a few Irish melodies thrown in for good measure.
Tonight we were treated to Dottie West's ' Country Sunshine', ' Blue Kentucky Girl', a hit for both Loretta Lynn and later Emmy Lou Harris, Kitty Wells ' It Wasn't God Who Made Honky -Tonk Angels', Billie Jo Spears ' 57 Chevrolet' and ' What I've Got In Mind' and amongst many other favourites ' You Belong To Me' a fifties number covered by Patti Page, Jo stafford and Patsy Cline amongst many others.
Different Patsy numbers permeated their programme including ' I Fall To Pieces', ' Honky -Tonk Merry Go Round' and ' Three Cigarettes In An Ashtray'.
Of the more recent releases we had good examples of Joni Harmes' songs including ' Two Steppin' Texas Blue', ' I've Got A Weakness For Cowboys' and ' Every Cowgirls Dream', Danni Leigh's ' I Feel A Heartache', Scooter Lee's ' Ribbon Of Highway', and several from Heather Myles' catalogue.
We also had many others, including several Irish songs, to sing-along to, all of which made a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

July 31st 2004 Incline

Toni, from the West Midlands, is the vocal half and Martyn, from Rugby,Warwickshire is the musician in this pairing. They have been performing together for seven years, playing Country and Middle of the road music.
Their first session consisted mainly of country standards, including Toni's tribute to Patsy Cline, her favourite Country singer, and several favourite Irish songs. During this part of their show Martyn displayed his virtuosity on the keyboards with his tribute to Glenn Miller.
During the first interval, a personal friend of Incline, club member, Tony Martyn, was invited from the audience to sing, and he duly obliged.
Tonight he performed three new songs to his programme, the beautiful ballad ' Lead on' (George Strait) and Alan Jacksons's 'Chasin' that Neon Rainbow' and ' Who Say's you can't have it all' .
For their second act, a similar format followed, with a few more recent songs - Lorrie Morgan's 'What part of No - -' Heather Myle's ' Who did you call Darlin' - - and the Carpenter's 'Sweet Sweet Smile' etc.
Their final spot produced even more variety. Martyn gave us an instrumental version of 'King of the Road' and 'Please Help me i'm Fallin' Toni gave us Country, a medley of sixties numbers known by one and all. But the evening culminated in a wonderful climax - A pub Sing-along which had everybody in the audience participating.
Incline are regular visitors to our club and with constant performances like this will continue to be so.
