June 5th 2008 JERRY WILLIAMS DUO

Following their brief  'showcase'  performance earlier this year, Jerry and Spade were rewarded with their own show this evening.

Jerry, a native of West Bromwich, is a seasoned professional having started performing in 1962 playing Rock N Roll, Skiffle, Pop etc. He has played all over the country, on the continent, both solo and in various combos. He is a Singer / Guitarist and has only recently concentrated on country music.

Spade has only a couple of years  experience in public performances, mainly singing Folk songs with guitar accompaniment, but joining Jerry a couple of months ago to form their duo. Each also writes songs.

Tonight's show was a good mix of old and new country, with Jerry taking lead on most  vocals, but Spade also featuring, less so.

Starting with the Derailers', Honey You Came To The Right Place, they continued with the better known Hal Ketchum ditty, Tonight  We Just Might Fall In Love Again, slowing things down, they delivered George Strait's, One Night At  A Time,  Bobby Darin's,  Eighteen Yellow Roses and the classic, Cowboy Rides Away.

The night progressed in similar vein, dancers and listeners  responded well to the solid performance of this relativly new partnership, of the ballads and uptempo numbers they chose. These included, Rose Garden, Mercury Blues, Me and Bobby McGee, Here Comes My Baby, Travelling Light, Amanda, and to bring a great  evening to a close, I Recall A Gypsy Woman.
