June 28th 2007 KRIS DAVIS
Following his first appearance here last August it was a welcome return tonight for Kris, and as before he gave us a very entertaining show to please dancers and listeners alike. Starting tonight with Kieran Kane's, Dirty Little Town, he continued with Froggy's, I Ride A Horse, and Heather Myles', Who Did You Call Darlin'. Older numbers followed with Dave Dudley's, Six Days On The Road, Merle Haggard's, Oakie From Muskogee and Mama Tried. During the second spot he invited local artiste and friend Tony Martin who, with Kris's accompaniment gave us Merle's Silver Wings, Vince Gill's, Love Never Broke Anyone's Heart and Hank Locklin's, Geisha Girl. Kris soloed again for the popular, Union Mare And Confederate Grey and You're My Best Friend. Cyril Insley August 17th 2006 KRIS DAVIS
A newcomer to our club took the stage tonight and what a splendid reception he got for the show he performed. Kris, originally from Scotland but now resident in Burnley, has always had his roots firmly planted in Country music, has a fine strong voice and plays guitar in excellent style.
In the past he has performed mainly in duo's including 'Liberty Free' and ' Northern Renegades' but has been solo since 2003.
Tonight's three act show consisted for the most part of New Country material but for his second stint older country songs predominated, and also featured occasionally in the other sets. His concert catered for Line and Partner dancers and Listeners alike.
The songs featured tonight included 'Anyway The Wind Blows', Almost Jamaica, Past The Point Of Rescue, Cannibals, Tempted, Lovin' All Night, Three Wooden Crosses, Some Beach, Memories Are Made Of This, The Gambler, Mama Tried, You're My Best Friend, Sea Of Heartbreak, Little Ole Wine drinker and Delbert McClinton's, Why Me, the last suiting the Rock 'n' Rollers.
Kris also gave us three self-penned songs - Nashville Tennessee, Anytime I Wander and Western Railroad Song, all of which were very well received.
This may have been Kris's first appearance at our club but i doubt it will be his last.
