July 20th  2006  MILES WEST DUO
 Miles west Duo
It was a welcome return tonight for Miles and Margaret and what a splendid show they gave us once again. As the scheduled artiste had broken down en route, it left this duo little time for preparation but they overcame the challenge and performed admirably.

Immaculately dressed as usual, they gave us a show to suit Dancers, Listeners and Singalongers alike.

Linedancers responded well to, There Goes my Heart, Don't Rock The jukebox, Lovin' All Night, Past The Point Of Rescue, and Good - Hearted Woman.

Smoochers were equally at home with, The Cowboy Rides Away, You're My Best friend, Storms Never Last, I Love You Because and Crazy etc,

Those who like to join in had even more to go at, including, Carolina Moon, Memories Are Made Of This, Walk On By  and Today I Started Loving you Again, etc.

Again we had an evening of super entertainment with vocals from both and excellent lead guitar work from Miles. No doubt we'll see them here again.

JUNE 16th 2005 MILES WEST DUO

Miles West Duo

Miles and Margaret are regular visitors to our club but tonight they were here to entertain us rather than listen and dance. Each plays Guitar and sings - Miles plays lead and takes most of the vocals, Margaret accompanies on bass, Harmonises and occasionally leads the singing.

They soon got the dancers to their feet with Radney Foster's ' Just Call Me Lonesome', Eric Clapton's ' Lay Down Sally', Rodney Crowell's 'Lovin All Night' and Mel McDaniel's ' Louisiana Saturday Night'.

Partner dancers were well catered for and filled the floor for Larry Gatlin's ' I Don't Wanna Cry', Leon Payne's ' I Love You Because', Don Williams' ' You're My Best Friend and Connie Francis's ' Carolina Moon' the latter seeing Margaret lead the vocalising.

Miles performed superb guitar work all evening with ' Past The Point Of Rescue' and ' Good Hearted Woman' being prime examples.

Together they gave us an excellent medley of old songs which had everyone singing their heads off.

As an encore they delivered a song new to the club ' I Picked A San Antonio Rose' recently covered by the great Hank Thompson.

As usual Miles and Margaret were stylishly dressed for each act and provided entertainment just right for their audience.

August 5th 2004  Miles West Duo

Miles West Duo

Tonight's visiting artistes are no strangers to our club as they regularly attend as members. Their presence was graced by other performers in the audience:- Mel Paul and Mary Lacey, Double Barrel and Johnny Dillon.

Miles has been involved in Country Music for many years via 'Miles and Bridget'  'The J.D. Band' and the 'Steve Miles Duo' but latterly with his wife Margaret. He plays lead guitar and does most of the vocalising while Margaret plays bass guitar and takes the occasional lead on singing when not harmonising.

They confess to preferring older Country and Traditional Standards but do have a catalogue of modern songs to cater for the line dancers especially.

Smartly dressed, they delivered their programme in fine style. The dancers particularly enjoyed The Mavericks ' There Goes my Heart' Mark Knofflers ' Cannibals' Rodney Crowell's ' Lovin all Night.'  We enjoyed a sing-along with ' China Doll ' 'Your Cheatin' Heart ' and ' Take These Chains ' etc.

Special mention must be made of Miles' excellent guitar work on ' Truck Drivin' Man ' / 'Deep in the Heart of Texas ' and 'Rollin in my Sweet Baby's Arms / Coming Round the Mountain medleys.

Margaret also treated us to a song not heard at our club before, ' There he Goes ' a number covered, i believe, by Dottie West, Sammi Smith and Sissy Spacek.

Even the Rock 'n' Rollers joined in the dancing to George Strait's ' The Fireman ' and the evening was nicely rounded off with a full dance floor smooching to Willie Nelson's 'Crazy' confirming how much everyone had enjoyed this Duo's fine performance.
