Cyril Insley January 31st 2008.... RED DIRT ROADIt was a first appearance at our club for this duo although Kris Davis has performed for us as a solo artiste on a couple of occasions. His duo partner Andy Ash is no stranger to country music and joined Kris in 2006 for regular shows together.
Both have similar musical backgrounds starting at school, progressing to professional status through bands and other combos and, of course, solo work. Each takes lead vocal whilst the other harmonises, Andy plays lead guitar and Kris rhythm.
Their programme is mainly from the New Country era but they do occasionally venture back in time to deliver Classic country numbers.
This evening they gave us Brad Paisley's, Easy Money, Man Around Here, and The World, Toby Keith's, Beer For My Horses, and I Love This Bar, Alan Jackson's, Gone Country, and Steve Holy's, Brand New Girlfriend.
Older favourites featured Waylon's, Union Mare and Confederate Grey, The Maverick's interpretation of, Memories Are Made Of This, Rita McNeil's, Working Man and John Fogerty's, Bad Moon Rising.
In our audience tonight we were delighted to welcome Country singer Johnny Holland who joined the lads on stage to deliver Jimmy Buffets', It's 5.0' Clock Somewhere, and Blake Shelton's, Some Beach.
However it was a couple of John Prine songs that i enjoyed best, Gold Inside Of You and Same Thing Happened To Me.
Throughout Andy and Kris gave us great vocals and excellent guitar work well appreciated by dancers and listeners alike. No doubt they will be back at our club.
