April 29th 2004 Rosa
From the minute she stepped on stage and began her first song 'Black Coffee', this smartly dressed lady from Stoke on Trent filled the dance floor and kept the listening audience happy all evening.
She immediately struck up a rapport with the members and her confident, animated display enabled her to create and maintain a party atmosphere throughout.
Rosa has been singing country music for thirteen years having appeared regularly in clubs,at festivals, on radio and performed in Nashville. She has recorded songs specially written for her by Dave Sheriff and frequently featured in the European media services airplay top thirty charts.
Quite a few newcomers helped to fill the club early, tonight, obviously to see their favourite and she did not disappoint. Her programme included plenty of songs not often heard here:- Kathy Mattea's 'Nobody's Gonna Rain on my Parade' Lorrie Morgan's 'Except for Monday' Loretta Lynn's 'You ain't Woman Enough to take my Man' and Carlene Carter's' Every Little Thing'
Rosa confessed to admiring two of my favourite lady singers, Tanya Tucker and Heather Myles; so it was especially great to hear 'Love me Like you Used to' and 'Who did you Call Darlin'
However, the most popular song of the evening was the old Roy Orbison classic 'Penny Arcade' which had to be repeated as the final encore of the night.
Rosa's bubbly personality and sparkling performance won her many new friends; so do not be surprised to see her here again.
