December 18th 2003 Shane Peters Christmas Party Night

Tonight was Christmas party night and as expected a full house resulted. The entertainment was provided by Shane Peters from Selby in Yorkshire. Having been involved in country music for 30 years, Shane's sparkling performance and repertoire reflected this. He has a powerful voice which is very pleasant to the ear and he easily won over both his listening and dancing audience.

   The bulk of his programme was made up of popular country standards e.g. Your Cheating Heart, Country Roads, Folsom Prison Blues and a Slim Whitman Medley. However the less common song was occasionally heard. Ronnie Millsap's Pure Love, David Alan Coe's, Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile and Merle Haggard, If We're Not In Love by Monday etc.

  A lovely surprise happened after the Buffet and raffle when Sheila, our organiser, Presented gifts to all who helped in the running of the Club. Shane then continued to entertain splendidly until late in the evening despite his long journey home and the gesture was greatly appreciated by everyone.  Cyril Insley.
