Songs included,The Man In The Moon, from Mark Collie, Western Girls, from Marty Stuart,  and Hillbilly Highway, You're Cheatin' Heart, Sea Of Heartbreak and My Baby's Gone, amongst many.
The presentation of which confirmed Stroll On's popularity with our members.

Pop songs included, I'm Into Something Good, Teenager In Love and The Young Ones, all of which pleased the dancers and those who love to join in and sing, all contributing to another evening of fine entertainment.

Ian again took lead on the vocals  whilst Pete excelled on the lead guitar, both providing music ideal for dancing or listening.

The concert tonight was a lovely mix of old and new with a few popular sixties numbers included, all received with enthusiastic applause.

April 5th 2007 STROLL ON DUO

It was a welcome return tonight for Pete and Ian following their successful first appearance here last July. As before this Lancashire Duo gave us a smashing show of fine vocals and excellent guitar playing and varied this evening's concert with different country songs and a few more sixties numbers.

Starting with the Mavericks', There Goes My Heart, they continued  with Hal Ketchum's, Old Soldiers, and Tom Russells, Walking On The Moon, which eventually got the line dancers off their backsides to fill the floor, as did, You Are No Angel, Marty Stuarts', Tempted and the Shakin Stevens 1986 hit, A Little Boogie Woogie.

Partner dancers were also catered for with George Strait's, One Night At A Time, and The Cowboy Rides Away, and the Louvin Brothers', I Can't Keep You In Love With Me.

Those of us who enjoy singalongs responded well to Smokie's, Living Next Door To Alice, Marty Robbins', Singing The Blues, Don Gibson's, Sea Of Heartbreak, The Everly Brothers', When Will I Be Loved and Walk Right Back, Johnny Tillotson's, Poetry In Motion and Cliff Richard's, The Young Ones

Once again an evening of superb entertainment was enjoyed by one and all.

July 6th 2006  STROLL ON DUO

Tonight's entertainment was provided by newcomers to our club PETE BETHELL and IAN COOKE both of whom reside in the Bolton / Chorley area of Lancashire. Both were members of the Country Band 'STROLLER' and on forming their duo in June last year  adopted  the name 'Stroll On' as a consequence.

After several months rehearsing etc. they played their first gig last October. Pete plays lead guitar and takes harmony vocals occasionally. His first musical ventures were into Folk Music until 1975 when he joined Graham Broughton and Sundown and has remained with Country Music since.

Ian's background is somewhat different as he has been involved in Heavy Metal Music, Caberet and Country but from 1997 'till last year took an extended break from performing. He plays Electric bass guitar and takes lead on all vocals. Incidentally Ian produced their backing tracks  complete with his own harmonising.

From the first bars of their opening number, Poor Boy Blues, their excellent guitar work and vocals were immediately apparent, and the duo continued in this manner throughout the evening. Their songs in the main came from the ' New Country' era and quite a few I have not heard elsewhere on the circuit. These included, Hal Ketchum's, Loving You Makes Me A Better Man, Swing Low  and That's What I Get For Losin' You, Marty Stuart's, Western Girls, Mark Collie's, The Man In The Moon, Steve Earle's, Hillbilly Highway  and Nowhere Road, Restless Heart's,  Fast Movin' Train, Rodney Crowell's, If Looks Could Kill, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's,  Modern Day Romance, The Desert Rose Band's, After The Twilight Is Gone, Chris LeDoux's, The Other Side Of The Hill, Lee Roy Parnell's, On The Road and The Maverick's, Things I Cannot Change.

Interspersed with these songs were familiar older numbers including, My Baby's Gone, Hey Good Looking, Singing The Blues, Sea Of Heartbreak and a couple of Pop songs adopted by the Country fraternity, When You Walk In The Room  and Teenager In Love.

Dancers were kept busy all evening, others watched and listened, admiring Pete's and Ian's skills and the appreciative applause of the audience inspired three encores, this concluding another night of super entertainment.
