May 31st 2007   THE TALL GUY

Tall Guy Lee

Artistes new to our club are always welcome here and tonight we had the benefit of two for the price of one, as Lee, the scheduled performer, brought along LUCY LEIGH with whom he is touring with at present.

Both reside in Essex but Lucy Leigh was born in London, leaving there when aged two. Lee was raised on Country music due to his parents love of this genre. Originally a disk jockey and line dance instructor, he quickly learned songs and decided to give singing a try,  he learned guitar and has been performing as a singer / guitarist for four years.

Lucy Leigh started singing when only four years old, and as Dolly Parton was her idol, she took to country music from age six. At thirteen she sang with a local band ' Triple Cream' and continued to harbour a dream of performing full time whilst studying for a nursing degree. In March 2005 she gave up her studies to devote her time to singing and composing.

Lee provided the songs for the first two acts and his programme was a good mix of Classic and New Country, all of which were delivered with a great baritone voice and suited dancers and listeners alike. Numbers included, Ramblin' Fever, Amanda, Ring Of Fire,  Livin' On Love,  Dance The Night Away, One Night At A Time, He'll Have To Go, Three Wooden Crosses, God Blessed Texas and Six Days On The Road,  amongst many.

Lucy Leigh  took centre stage for the final act and immediately won the audience over with her singing and sparkling personality. Numbers included , Rose Garden, Coat Of Many Colours, Blanket On The Ground, Crazy, Applejack and Old Flames. She duetted with Lee on the Everly Brothers classic, Bye Bye Love.

Lee concluded the show with Tracy Byrds, I'm From The Country, Alan Jackson's, To Do What I Do, Don Williams', You're My Best Friend and Keith Whitley's, Don't Close Your Eyes.

The  concert was a non - stop affair as between them Lee and Lucy Leigh sang forty- two  complete songs, all delivered in fine style.

This may have been their first appearance at the Northern Renegades but it will not be their last if i am any judge.
