December 6th 2007... PAUL WESTON

Paul is a regular entertainer at our club and as in the past, his show catered for all members of our club.

He started tonight's concert with Dwight Yokam's, Guitars, Cadillacs, following it with a more recent number, Josh Turner's, Your Man.

The evening continued in similar vein with a lovely, lively mix of old and new songs including Merle Haggards, Working Man Blues, Rocky Lynn's, Holding Back The Ocean, Eddie Rabbitt's, Drivin' My Life Away, The Eagles, Take It Easy, The Maverick's, There Goes My Heart, Kris Kristofferson's, Help Me Make It Through The Night, and Brad Paisley's, Wrapped Around.

However, he left two of my favourites to the end  with Steve Warriner's, Drivin' and Cryin' and Jerry Lee Lewis', Whole Lot Of Shakin' Going On, once again ensuring his audience went home in a joyous mood.

March 29th 2007 PAUL WESTON

Another solid performance from Paul tonight made for another enjoyable show. Again he provided a lovely mix of both old and new to keep all factions of our members happy, dancers and listeners alike.

Starting off with the beaty Merle Haggard classic, Big City, he continued with George Strait's, Blue Clear Sky and Alan Jackson's, Livin' On Love. His next song however  filled the floor / Hal Ketchum's, (Tonight We Just Might)  Fall In Love Again, brought out all the line dancers, as did, I Just Wanna Dance With You, and Toby Keith and Willie Nelson's, Beer For My Horses.

Paul likes to keep up with the new country releases and included Steve Holy's, Brand New Girlfriend, Pat Green's, Wave On Wave and Blake Shelton's, Some Beach, also.

Partner dancers were treated to several ballads as well, including Bob McDill's, Don't Close your Eyes, Shenandoahs no 1 from 1989, Church On The Cumberland Road, Tracy Lawrence's, I See It Now, T.Graham Brown's 1986 chart topper, Hell And High Water, ( which incidentally is Paul's  alltime favourite Country  song) and concluding the evening with Merle's, Silver Wings, once more confirmed what a versatile, good allround entertainer he is.

July 13th..2006.. PAUL WESTON.

 Paul Weston
Tonight was a welcome return for Paul following his first appearance here in January. His show followed a similar format to his earlier show but with lots of different songs, catering again for dancers, listeners and those who like to singalong.

Of the New Country material we had Darryl Worley's, Tennessee River Run, Keith Urban's, Somebody Like You, Garth Brookes' Papa Loved Mama, Steve Warrinor's, Burnin' The Roadhouse Down, ( a duet with Garth), A Woman Like You, written and recorded by one Matt King, When I Said I Do, a No 1 in 1999 for Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman and a beautiful ballad from Collin Rayes, Extremes Album, A Bible And A Bus Ticket Home, amongst many.

Older songs inspiring audience participation included Merle's, Sing Me Back Home, Keith Whitley's, Don't Close Your Eyes, Guy mitchell's, Heartaches By The Number, Hank's, Mind Your Own Business, Kris Kristofferson's, Help Me Make It Through The Night and Ricky Van Shelton's, Living Proof.

Three songs I particularly enjoyed were, Down By The River, a 1963 hit for Faron Young and covered years later by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The Earl Garner,  Jazz classic, Misty, sung in Ray Stevens fashion and a country smash  in 1975, and a Charlie Daniels hit from 1988, Boogie Woogie Fiddle Country Blues, songs not heard often.

Again Paul gave us a night of smashing entertainment and variety.

January 12th 2006    PAUL WESTON

We are always pleased to welcome artistes new to our club and tonight was such an occasion.

Paul had an upbringing in a Country music family and at an early age was singing Carols and playing guitar at junior school Christmas concerts. He made his first public appearance, however, as drummer in the family band ' Sylvie and the Silver Dollar ', when only nine years old.

He has been involved with several bands including ' Shilo',  'City Limits', 'RFD' etc. and is now on his second stint as a solo performer having recently left 'No Regrets'.

His knowledge of Country music songs enables him to cater for lovers of the old and new music.

Line dancers filled the floor to Alan Jackson's ' Who's Cheatin'  Who,'  Keith Urban's ' Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me,' Blake Sheldon's ' Some Beach', George Jones ' Billy B Bad,' George Strait's 'One Night At A Time,' Tracy Lawrence's ' I See It Now'etc.

Partner dancers were out in force to Ricky Van Shelton's ' Living Proof', Merle Haggard's ' Swingin' Doors', Jim Reeves' He'll Have To Go' and the Sonny Throgmorton classic 'The Cowboy Rides Away'

Songs not heard here before included Lonestar's ' Runnin' Away With My Heart', Brad Paisley's ' Wrapped Around', another Restless Heart number ' Fast Movin' Trains' and Rodney Crowell's ' She's Crazy For Leavin'.'

Paul gave us an evening of splendid entertainment, well received by all factions of the audience.
